SUBCULTURES.

MODERN GRUNGE.

My subculture would be modern grunge/soft grunge. I put myself into this category as I went through everything that I enjoy and most of it was grunge/alternative related. I like to layer my clothes and wear things very oversized peices such as flannel shirts, baggy jumpers, t-shirts, jackets etc. I'm also a big fan of black boots, I like to outwear my boots so they look tired and scuffed. Im into a lot of alternative rock music such as the 1975(my fav band).

Thom Browne

I looked at few different designers on Oki-Ni.com and Thom Browne was the menswear range that caught my eye the most. I liked the way he had turned this plain sweatshirt into a high end garment with the three abstract lines on the sleeves.

Farfetch.com

Farfetch.com have brought out a new trend called 'Game On Japan' it is based on Japanese street style. This sleeveless double breasted woollen coat was my favourite piece from the collection. It is a key peice for this A/W 2014 as Sleeveless coats are majorly on trend this season.

Oxfam

This was a little oxfam boutique along angel/Islington street. Im a huge fan of charity shops and you can always find a good bargin! This one had alot of vintage coats, many of them were knee length duster coats and a few hidden 80's denim jackets.

DOVER STREET MARKET

I loved the layout of Dover Street Market, there were very small sections on each floor, some of them where very high end designers such as celine and Yves Saint Laurent. I wasn't allowed to take any pictures but I managed to sneak a few.

This is Collection from Junya Watanbe, a japanese fashion designer. Watanbe has focused on different shades of grey and producing different textures on the garment.

I loved this collection from Rick Owen's, an american designer from California. It was very basic but included some really nice fabrics and textures. Owen's collection was a lot more high street fashion than high end couture.

This collection was called 'world archive' it was based on renewed vintage.
This is also part of the 'World Archive' collection. The layout was based on japanese oriental.

Urban Renewal

Like I said,i love everything vintage so stepping into Urban Renewal (urban outfitters) was heaven! vintage has been a massive trend for a couple of years with the likes of rihanna rocking Levi 501's back in 2013. Urban renewal is garments that Urban Outfitters has taken and renewed whether its taking it in, making the skirts shorter, cutting the levi's into shorts (big seller) or even just selling the odd crazy print shirts or flannel jackets. I have a big collection of Flannel jackets at home, Urban Outfitters isnt a high end fashion store (although it is pricey) it focuses more on indie and alternative fashion rather than high street trends.

TopShop

This print is so gorgeous for the A/W 2014, its almost oriental-like. These trousers are a statement piece.

This sheepskin suede coat is totally 70's central!

I love everything vintage, renewed, second hand e.c.t so when i saw this little black number I was in love! i thought straight back to the '95 film clueless. the fir trim gives the simple cami slip dress a 90's disco twist.
Topshop dowstairs, had a Monochrome display which had a few of their independent labels displayed. it was an amazing collection!

Libertys

Liberty's front display was amazing, im loving the fortune teller-like head scarves at the moment and they displayed most of their scarves on head mannequins which I though was really creative and appealed to a bigger audience. Stella McCartney had a deep ivy green velvet scarf on display which I chose to photograph as im a huge velvet fan.

BURBERRY

Burberry has brought out this amazing range of menswear handbags! unfortunately they told me off after this one so I couldn't take any more pictures, but hopefully you can see that the bags are almost tote-like but very deep. there were a few different patterns, my favourite was the same shape yet tapestry floral print. I also like the print on this shirt and coat as Burberry have used the same cartoon-like flower print on the shirt and have expanded it onto a different woven fabric on the coat. it gives it an edgy yet sophisticated style.

Cladie Pierlot

I love everything with cats on so when I spotted French designer Claudie Pierlot and her A/W 2014 collection was inspired by cats I had to take a photo! Pierlot's range isnt as high end fashion as it is more linked to high street fashion rather than pret-a-porter collections on the catwalk.

jonathan Saunders

                                                 Jonathan Saunders

I am in love with Bomber Jackets this season, we've seen them everywhere in the high street and on the catwalk, whilst walking round Selfridges I spotted this little menswear collection by Scottish Central St.Martins graduate Jonathan Saunders who designs both womenswear and menswear. Saunders has taken a bomber jacket with stripes (almost like an addidas or nike sweat jacket) and added bold colours such as bright green to make it more on trend for A/W 2014. His collection had focused on very bold yet simple shapes such as the chef print checks on the t-shirt you can see in the background and stripes which you can see on the bomber jacket.

Vivienne Westwood

                                               Vivienne Westwood

It seems to be that the trend of oversized duster coats are creeping back in for this season A/W 2014. I loved this suit from the vivienne westwood menswear range. Even though this is formal attire, Westwood has still given her own twist on it by creating underneath, 80's punk checkered trousers in a black and burgundy which complements the tan Duster Coat. The Westwood collection for Selfridges wasn't as crazy as I would of expected however her collections never fail to disappoint

Selfridges

                                                         Selfridges.

I had way to much fun in Selfridges today, Seeing so many collections from the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Chanel, Alexander Mqueen, Dries Van Coutan e.t.c All of this just got me so excited for the up and coming A/W 2014 trends.
